Durability of infusion chairs

To improve patient comfort, some infusion chairs use a combination of a metal frame and medical-grade PU leather seat cushions or backrests. The lifespan of these chairs largely depends on the durability of the PU leather, with an overall lifespan of 6-8 years. They are commonly found in VIP infusion rooms and geriatric wards. Medical-grade PU leather is soft, waterproof, and easy to clean, but prolonged pressure, direct sunlight, or excessively high concentrations of disinfectants may cause it to crack or peel.

 

Wooden infusion chairs use solid wood or plywood for the seat or backrest, paired with a metal frame, creating a warm and natural style. The wood material requires anti-corrosion and antibacterial treatment, and the surface is coated with medical-grade varnish. Their lifespan is 5-7 years, and they are often used in areas that emphasize a pleasant atmosphere, such as traditional Chinese medicine clinics and rehabilitation departments. The stability of wood is greatly affected by the humidity of the medical environment; poor ventilation can easily lead to moisture damage, warping, or mold.

 

Besides the material itself, factors such as usage frequency, maintenance, and installation environment generally affect the lifespan of various types of infusion chairs. Infusion chairs used in high-frequency areas such as outpatient infusion rooms and emergency rooms may have a shorter lifespan. Regular cleaning, avoiding damage from sharp objects, and timely repair of damaged parts can extend their service life. Damp, poorly ventilated areas or areas exposed to direct sunlight will accelerate material aging.

 

The safety requirements for infusion chair materials include achieving a flame retardant rating of B1 and having no detectable formaldehyde content. Metal surfaces must pass corrosion resistance testing, requiring 500 hours of continuous neutral salt spray, a corrosion resistance rating of level 10 for the coating itself, and a protection rating of level 10 for the substrate provided by the coating.
